Femme voices tackle industry challenges at Comic-Con panel

By Gina Yarbrough

San Diego, CA–Femme voices in pop culture will take center stage at San Diego Comic-Con as a group of content creators and commentators gather for a candid conversation on the obstacles they face in their fields and fan communities.

Titled “Fangirling in the Face of Barriers,” the panel will take place on July 26, from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Neil Morgan Auditorium inside the San Diego Central Library, 330 Park Blvd. in downtown San Diego.

Moderated by Alix Catherine, host of the Welcome Party Podcast and popular streamer, the discussion will feature a diverse lineup of panelists exploring the everyday challenges femmes face in the workplace, creative spaces, and online platforms. Topics will include creating from a fangirl perspective, responding to online negativity, and strategies for navigating gendered experiences in pop culture spaces.

The panelists include:

  • Bobbi, host of Culture Kitsch on YouTube and The Afternoon Special
  • Movie Mija, a commercial and film producer, and a content creator
  • Frankey Smith, host of the DC Studios Showcase podcast
  • Shiv Reddy, South Asian content creator and advocate for media representation
  • Victoria Male, screenwriter, producer, and creator of the Your Biggest Fangirl podcast
  • Jenna Wrenn, executive producer and host of the Portrait of a Fangirl podcast

The event promises an honest and empowering dialogue aimed at elevating femme perspectives in pop culture and entertainment.
