East Village Opening Day Celebrates Baseball Season With Block Party

March 24, 2019 By sdcnews

SAN DIEGO–The East Village Association is calling all baseball lovers and Padres fans to join them for the 9th annual East Village Opening Day Block Party in downtown San Diego.

The free event will be held on J Street between 6th Avenue and 10th Avenue. Kick off this year’s baseball season with two full days of baseball themed fun starting on March 28 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Friday, March 29 from 12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m..

The annual event attracts 25,000 baseball fans each year and has become a beloved tradition amongst loyal Padres fans and the East Village Community.

The block party will feature live entertainment from Caliber, San Diego’s top-rated dance cover band, an interactive Game Zone featuring baseball themed games, jump houses, custom baseball pins for sale and other hands on activities, a microbrew beer garden from Ballast Point, Duck Foot Brewing, Melvin Brewing, Ambros Whiskey, Tito’s Vodka, and Califino Tequila, food such as hot dogs, fried chicken, smoked BBQ, donuts, kettle corn, and more.

This year, event organizers are inviting fans’ four-legged furry friends up to bat and join in on the festivities. All loyal companions are welcome to the Opening Day Block Party on Pet Friday, March 29 for the Pet Expo. At 4 p.m., the event will showcase the most adorable roster in town at the Four-Legged Fashion Show.

Avoid parking and take the MTS trolley with $5 round-trip tickets. Additional information on the 9th Annual East Village Opening Day Block Party can be found at EastVillageSanDiego.com/opening-weekend-block-party or Facebook.com/EastVillageSD.

All proceeds from the block party sponsorships and exhibitors will benefit the non-profit East Village Association, Inc. whose mission is to support and promote East Village businesses by establishing the community as San Diego’s livable urban village.
