Drunk Driver Who Struck Pregnant Woman Faces Judge

ESCONDIDO–The driver involved Sunday in a DUI vehicle collision that injured a 27 year-old pregnant woman was in court Wednesday to face charges.

The driver, Jose Luis Uriostegui, 32, was charged with DUI and hit-and-run causing death or injury. The judge set Uriostegui’s bail at $1,000,000.

Lucrecia Vasquez, who was six-months pregnant, suffered serious injuries when Uriostegui struck Vasquez’s vehicle. As a result of the accident Vasquez lost her unborn child she named Santiago. She is currently being treated at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido.

Vasquez’s family have setup a Go Fund Me account to help pay for funeral expenses for their unborn child, and to help with medical expenses.
