Driver Of Stolen Vehicle Arrested In Carlsbad After Collision

CARLSBAD–A man driving a stolen vehicle led Carlsbad police on a street chase through Carlsbad, authorities said Friday.

The driver of the stolen Honda was identified as 36-year-old Christina Rodriguez from Escondido and the passenger was identified as 25 year old Danny Hernandez from Escondido. Both men were taken into custody.

Rodriguez was booked into Vista Jail for felony evading causing injury. He is charged with auto theft, possessions of burglary tools and stolen property. Hernandez was arrested for auto theft, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, and felony warrants.

The incident began after 1 p.m. when police officers attempted to stop a stolen Green Honda CRV northbound in the 5600 block of Avenida Encinas. He fled reaching speeds of 60 miles per hour.

The driver turned west on Cannon Road and collided with two vehicles causing injuries to another driver.
