LEMON GROVE–A man who violated a restraining order was arrested after he led sheriff’s deputies on a vehicle pursuit through Lemon Grove and San Diego.
On Monday evening, deputies responded to a report of Marvin Peeples violating a restraining order at a location off of Blossom Hill Court in Lemon Grove.
Upon arrival, deputies confronted Peeples who tried to flee in grey Kia sedan. A scuffle ensued between deputies and Peeples as he attempted multiple times to start the sedan and shift it into reverse. When Peeples was able to engage the vehicle to move, deputies ceased their efforts to physically detain him in fear they would be injured or killed.
Peeples fled the area with deputies in pursuit though Lemon Grove and into San Diego. During the pursuit Peeples ran multiple red lights although drove at sensible speeds for the conditions present. While driving north bound on Euclid at the University Avenue intersection, Peeples again entered the intersection against the red light. The pursuing deputy collided with an east bound Honda Civic. After the initial impact, the Honda continued through the intersection where it impacted a parked Ford Expedition before coming to rest. After the collision, pursuing deputies temporarily lost sight of Peeples and his Kia. However, he was soon located in the 4700 block of Miracle Drive, still in his vehicle. A high risk stop was conducted and Peeples detained without incident. He was arrested for two outstanding warrants, violating a restraining order, felony evasion, assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest.
There were no reported injuries during the collision.
