SPRING VALLEY–A Sheriff’s Deputy on patrol in the Spring Valley area attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle for a false registration tab. The vehicle failed to yield and attempted to evade the pursuing deputy.
The pursuit went from the unincorporated Spring Valley area into Lemon Grove, driving on surface streets at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour. The pursuit ended when the suspect drove his vehicle into an apartment complex at the 3200-block of Buena Vista in Lemon Grove and crashed into an apartment building. The suspect fled on foot into a large apartment complex. A Sheriff’s K9 unit tracked the suspect to an apartment building on Pacific Avenue, where deputies determined the suspect possibly resided.
Deputies found the suspect hiding inside an apartment and arrested him without incident. The suspect was identified as 36-year-old Ivan George and faces charges of felony evading, hit and run, driving on a suspended license, and false registration tabs. George’s wife, 29-year-old Christina George, was arrested as an accessory for aiding him in hiding from deputies to avoid arrest.
Damage was minor and the building was determined to be structurally sound.
