LEMON GROVE–A 21 year-old female driver Wednesday morning died from her injuries after her 2010 Mazda 3 struck a pole on westbound State Route 94.
CHP officers say the vehicle was traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour on SR-94, east of College Ave. Due to her excess speed, she lost control of her vehicle, struck a pole located to the north of the roadway prior to overturning. The driver was not wearing her seatbelt. The driver succumbed at the scene due to the injuries sustained from the collision.
No other vehicles were involved and the collision remains under investigation to determine if alcohol and or drugs were a factor.
