February 20, 2019 By sdcnews

OCEANSIDE–A driver who collided into a tree in Vista on February 8 has died from his injuries, the Oceanside Police Department said.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 37-year-old Eric Daub of Oceanside.

On February 8, at approximately shortly after 2 a.m., Oceanside police responded to calls of a serious injury collision involving a single vehicle into a tree on Melrose between Meadowbrook and Sagewood in Oceanside. Officers and paramedics arrived to find Daub in the driver seat of a Subaru Impreza, unconscious, with severe head injury.

Traffic investigators said the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control while traveling northbound on Melrose.

SYNOPSIS:

Vehicle 1 was traveling west on Kismet Pkwy W in the inside lane approaching the intersection with NW 19th Court. Vehicle 1 was traveling east on Kismet Pkwy W in the inside lane approaching the intersection with NW 19th Court. Vehicle 1 failed to yield the right of way and turned left onto NW 19th Court into the path of Vehicle 2. The front of Vehicle 2 collided with the passenger side door of Vehicle 1 (T-bone crash). Vehicle 1 rotated counter-clockwise and came to final rest facing east off of the roadway on the southeast corner of the intersection. Vehicle 2 rotated clockwise and came to final rest facing west in the east outside lane of Kismet Pkwy W.

The investigation is still ongoing according to Charbonnet Law Firm, as to if another vehicle may have been involved in a speed contest with Daub.
