Carlsbad, CA–The 42-year-old driver who struck and killed a Carlsbad woman on her e-bike last summer was charged on May 25 with vehicular homicide, and arraigned by the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office.
Lindsay Turmell of Carlsbad was driving a 2022 white Toyota 4Runner when she struck the 35-year-old female cyclist.
On August 7, 2022, around 5:45 p.m., Carlsbad police were called to the intersection of Basswood Avenue at Valley Street due to a traffic collision involving a vehicle and an electric bicycle.
When they arrived on the scene, officers found the cyclist injured near the intersection. Traveling on the electric bicycle with the woman was a 16-month-old toddler. The girl did not appear to be injured. The cyclist was riding a black electric bicycle at the time of the collision. The driver remained at the scene.
The Carlsbad Police Department’s Traffic Division and the California Highway Patrol’s Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team conducted the investigation.
