CORONADO–Police officers arrested a male driver Wednesday in connection with a fatal hit and run accident on State Route 15 early Tuesday morning.
Coronado police officers say the man was taken into custody for driving under the influence. His damaged vehicle was located in Coronado. Investigators believe the driver may have been involved in the accident.
On Wednesday, at approximately 1:48 a.m., CHP dispatch received reports from motorists of debris and what appeared to be a mannequin on southbound lanes of State Route 15 near Interstate 805 freeway. Officers discovered the body of a Hispanic female in the roadway. No vehicles were located at the collision scene.
Authorities are investigating the incident.
Update: San Diego CHP is also looking for a white Nissan Sport Utility Vehicle with minor to moderate damage to the right front fender and quarter panel. The white Nissan SUV was seen leaving the area at the time of the traffic collision.
