Dog stolen from owner

March 12, 2010 By Staff

By Gina Yarbrough

CARLSBAD–A man walking his dog while driving his vehicle had his dog stolen by an unknown man.

Police say the robbery occurred March 11 in the 2700 block of Haymar Drive in Carlsbad.

The victim told officers he was exercising his dog by driving slowly with his dog walking next his car on a leash. An unknown suspect grabbed his dog’s leash and told the victim it was illegal to do that and put the dog in his newer model pickup with a camper shell and left the area with the victim’s dog. The suspect told the victim if he wanted his dog, call the Oceanside Police Department. The dog is a German Sheppard and valued at $1,200.00. Officers checked the area for the suspects and dog with negative results.

Carlsbad police contacted the Oceanside Police Department and they did not have the dog.

The suspect is described as a white male adult approximately 30 years old, wearing unknown clothing with brown hair and medium build.
