Dining Out For Life To Benefit HIV Prevention Programs

January 27, 2016 By sdcnews

SAN DIEGO–The LGBT Community Center has announced that the 10th annual Dining Out For Life will take place April 28 at various restaurants in San Diego.

Dining Out For Life is designed to fill some of the region’s best restaurants and bars – which will donate 25 to 100 percent of their food and liquor sales on that day – all in support of HIV/AIDS services and prevention programs at The Center. Everyone can participate simply by dining out with family and friends for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner at the participating establishments on April 28.

“This year marks a decade of our community coming together to support HIV services and prevention programs through Dining Out For Life,” said Dr. Delores A. Jacobs, chief executive officer of The Center. “We are truly grateful for the enthusiastic response and for the participation of thousands of San Diegans – from the restaurant owners, managers and servers to our volunteer Ambassadors and all those who dine out. The success of Dining Out For Life is absolutely the result of true community collaboration.”

“Each year, we look forward to building even greater community support for Dining Out For Life,” said Ian Johnson, The Center’s director of special events. “The event has become an opportunity for so many to join come out and join the fight to end HIV in San Diego. By dining out San Diegans are not only supporting life-saving HIV/AIDS programs, including our #BeTheGeneration campaign, but they are also talking about HIV and sharing information about all the new ways we have to treat and end this disease.”

The Center’s #BeTheGeneration campaign is a strategic and comprehensive effort to end new HIV transmissions in the next decade. By educating San Diegans about groundbreaking new HIV treatment and testing options and combating the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS, this campaign is working to end new cases of HIV in San Diego.

For more information, contact Johnson at (619) 692-2077, ext. 247, or at ijohnson@thecentersd.org. All participating restaurants are encouraged to register by Thursday, Feb. 25 to maximize promotional opportunities.
