SAN DIEGO–Detectives are investigating an attempted sexual assault that occurred Thursday morning in the area of 1300 Diamond Street in Pacific Beach.
The victim was jogging on the sidewalk when she was grabbed from behind by the suspect. He forced her to the ground and then attempted to sexually assault her. When the victim screamed, the suspect fled the scene on foot. He was chased by two witnesses who saw him get into a mid to late 90’s, white, two-door Acura.
The suspect is described as a dark-skinned male with dark brown hair in his mid to late 20’s. He is between 6’0’ and 6’2” tall, with a thin, but athletic build. He is described as clean shaven. He was wearing a blue tank top and tan shorts, but was not wearing shoes.
Detectives believe this case may be related to a previous series of sexual batteries that occurred in Pacific Beach on May 3 and May 6. In those cases, the suspect groped the women as they were walking or jogging on Pacific Beach area streets. Several days later, on May 9, five women were groped by a suspect while jogging in the College area.
Anyone with information concerning these batteries is asked to contact the San Diego Police Department’s Sex Crimes Unit at (619) 531-2210, or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
