LAKESIDE–A Sheriff’s deputy was injured in a traffic collision Thursday while pursuing a possible vehicle involved in a hit and run.
Shortly before 6 p.m., Lakeside deputies were looking for a vehicle involved in a felony hit and run collision in the area of State Route 67 and Riverford Drive in Lakeside.
A deputy staged at Mapleview Street and SR-67 observed a vehicle matching the description of the felony hit and run vehicle traveling eastbound on Mapleview Street.
Activating emergency lights and siren, the deputy proceeded through the intersection in an effort to catch up to the vehicle and initiate a traffic stop. A separate vehicle traveling southbound SR-67 collided with the patrol vehicle. Both drivers were evaluated by paramedics on scene for minor complaints of pain.
The hit and run suspect vehicle was not located.
