SAN DIEGO–Northwestern Division patrol officers responded January 6 to Del Norte High School concerning possible inappropriate text messages sent by Robin Alarcon to a student. Alarcon was a walk-on, assistant freshman girls’ soccer coach at the school. The messages were sent to the student the evening of January 5.
The student informed school officials about the messages the next day and school officials immediately contacted the San Diego Police Department. Detectives from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force also responded to the school. Alarcon was located and arrested at the high school.
Alarcon was also the girls’ lacrosse coach at Mt. Carmel High School in the Rancho Penasquitos community and is a girls’ club soccer coach for a team in Rancho Penasquitos. Administrators from Del Norte High School, Mt. Carmel High School and the Poway Unified School District are cooperating with this investigation.
Alarcon was booked into the San Diego Central Jail and has been charged with sending harmful matter to a minor and communicating with a minor with the intent to commit a sexual act. Alarcon’s bail is set at $75,000 and he is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon in San Diego Superior Court.
