DEL MAR–The City will host a Sustainability Resource Fair and Climate Action Plan Open House September 24 at the Powerhouse Community Center.
For the past few years, the Del Mar Sustainability Advisory Board has been developing a multi-faceted Climate Action Plan and updating the City’s Greenhouse Gas Inventory. The Climate Action Plan will set targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2020 and 2035, identify strategies to meet these targets, formulate a plan for implementation, and discuss ways the City needs to adapt to the effects of climate change already occurring or anticipated to occur, such as sea level rise and water supply.
The Sustainability Resource Fair and Climate Action Plan Open House will provide residents with an opportunity to share their thoughts on the City of Del Mar’s work to develop a long-term Climate Action Plan. Attendees will also be able to learn about resources to improve the environmental sustainability of their home or business from the following agencies: City of Del Mar, Waste Management, San Diego County Water Authority, San Diego Gas and Electric, Center for Sustainable Energy, and the San Diego Foundation.
The Climate Action Plan will be presented to the City Council for consideration and recommended adoption later in 2015.
The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at 1658 Coast Boulevard in Del Mar.
