County shelters to hold “Your Price is Right” adoption event‏

November 30, 2010 By sdcnews

Looking to boost falling pet-adoptions and provide families and pets with holiday cheer, San Diego County’s three animal shelters, the Rancho Coastal Humane Society and Chula Vista Animal Care Facility are letting the adopter decide what fees they will pay in the first-ever “Your Price is Right” pet adoption drive.

Through Dec. 30, families can name their own price and adopt a dog or cat — up to two per household — from the shelters, which are teaming up for the first time.

“This is the time of year that we celebrate the joys of family and that includes four-legged family members as well,” said Dawn Danielson, Director of County Animal Services. “Adopting a pet is the gift that keeps on giving. You can expect years of unconditional love and companionship.”

The adoptions include spaying or neutering, vaccinations, a microchip and a free health examination.

“Many people get depressed over the holiday season and a pet can provide comfort, relieve stress and anxiety, and promote laughter, especially during these times of uncertainty.” said Jim Silveira, President of the Rancho Coastal Humane Society. “This adoption event will allow some wonderful pets to spend the holidays and the rest of their lives with a new loving family.”
