SAN DIEGO–The County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking individuals interesting in volunteering at Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve on June 5 to commemorate National Trails Day.
“This is a great opportunity to get outside and give back to the community by helping to preserve the natural resources that make this park so special,” according to Brian Albright, Director of the Parks and Recreation Department.
All ages are welcome to participate. Work projects will be divided into groups for adults, children and families. Volunteers will be assigned to a variety of tasks, including trail maintenance, tree planting and fence building.
Volunteers will receive a National Trails Day shirt and a catered lunch. They can also enjoy nature hikes, tours of the historic Adobe Ranch House, exhibits, a petting zoo and live music.
The National Trails Day celebration is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Parking and admission are free at Rancho Penasquitos Adobe, 12122 Canyonside Park Drive.
