SAN DIEGO–The County of San Diego is launching a campaign during National Preparedness Month in September to urge residents and their families to register their cell phones for AlertSanDiego.
Currently, about 200,000 cell phones are registered, which exceeds other communities that use the system but is still far short of the number of residents in the county.
Registering gives the County Office of Emergency Services another way to alert residents with emergency messages and evacuation notices in their area during a wildfire, earthquake or other disaster.
The County will work through its community, emergency response and media partners as well as use social media and the web to spread the message during the campaign.
Registration is quick and simple; visit www.ReadySanDiego.org.
