SAN DIEGO–Centre City Development Corporation is seeking community input on the proposed expansion of the San Diego Convention Center. The public is invited to discuss the project at either of two upcoming public workshops on Wednesday, July 14 and/or Saturday, July 17.
The Saturday program will feature a special behind the scenes tour of the San Diego Convention Center and expansion site in advance of the workshop.
The purpose of the workshops is to gather additional public feedback on issues including urban design, parks, view corridors, waterfront enhancements, public access, eco-friendly design, sustainable practices and other elements.
The public’s input will be provided to the architectural design teams competing to design the proposed expansion. Feedback received will supplement information already gathered by the Mayor’s Citizen Task Force on the San Diego Convention Center Project, including input received at the 11 public hearings held in 2009.
Tours of the San Diego Convention Center and the proposed expansion site will be offered to individuals as space permits. Interested parties must register in advance for the tour by e-mailing Marit Hill at marit.hill@visitsandiego.com, or phone at (619) 525-5215.
