City of Encinitas accepting 2020 Commission recruitment

December 11, 2019 By sdcnews

Encinitas Civic Center

ENCINITAS–The City of Encinitas is now accepting applications for appointment to City Commissions.

Application forms must be completed online from the city’s website and all applicants must be registered voters in Encinitas. Planning Commission and Traffic and Public Safety Commission have geographic requirements as noted in the Public Notice.

There are two application deadlines, one for incumbents wishing to reapply, and a later date for all other applicants. The deadline for incumbents wishing to reapply is Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 5 p.m., and the deadline for all other applicants is January 16, 2020 at 5 p.m.

All applicants will be asked to attend the February 12, 2020 city council meeting to briefly discuss their qualifications and interest in serving on a commission. Appointments are scheduled to be made at the city council meeting on February 26, 2020, at 6 p.m. (meeting dates are subject to change). Terms will begin March 1, 2020.

Beginning in 2014, all Commissions, with the exception of the Youth Commission, will have term limits of two consecutive full terms of office. After reaching the term limit, a person must sit out one appointment cycle before reapplying to the same City Commission. Upon terming out of one Commission, a person may apply to a different City Commission.

Interested residents can call the Encinitas City Clerk at (760) 633-2603.
