Chula Vista Police search for suspect in shooting death of man

February 7, 2021 By sdcnews

CHULA VISTA–Authorities are searching for a suspect who fatally shot a 36-year-old man in Chula Vista on Saturday, police said.

Chula Vista Police received a report at 12:25 a.m. of a suspicious vehicle and sounds of gunshots in the 1800 block of Marquette Road, Chula Vista Police spokesman Lt. Miriam Foxx said.

When police officers arrived at the location, they found an unresponsive man laying down on the ground with gunshots to his upper torso. The officers and paramedics administered first aid to the victim. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

While searching for the suspect, police officers spotted a suspicious vehicle near the shooting. The driver took off with police in pursuit of the vehicle. Officers pursued the vehicle into National City but lost the driver.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information on the case or the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to call the Chula Vista Police Department at (619) 691-5075 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
