SAN MARCOS–The San Marcos Arts Council and the Art Miles Mural Project will team up once again to facilitate “healing murals” for both Boston’s tragedy and Moore, Oklahoma’s devastating disaster.
The community mural project will take place on May 24 and May 25 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at San Marcos’s new Charity Wings Art Center.
Intergenerational murals were planned by the San Marcos Arts Council with funding provided by the San Marcos Community Foundation. The Art Miles Mural Project has facilitated the creation of more than 4,000 acrylic murals on canvas with more than 1Ž2 million people in 100 countries over the past 17 years as an effort to bring people together through the art of mural painting.
The award winning “Art Miles Mural Project” will team up once again with the San Marcos Arts Council and Charity Wings to create responses of community support to victims and survivors of both natural and human disasters. An incredible collection of 14 murals were sent and exhibited to Sandy Hook Elementary School families in Newtown, Connecticut. San Marcos area schools and Cal State University San Marcos participated with a huge display of compassion and creative efforts to reach out to people as a result of the tragic events there.
The public of all ages are invited to participate for free in both the Intergenerational Mural Marathon and the Boston Strong/Mural for Moore events at 287 Industrial Street in San Marcos.
