SAN DIEGO–Centre City Development Corporation (CCDC) and the Public Agency Consortium (PAC), a collaboration of 12 local public agencies seeking to promote and foster diversity and opportunities for businesses that provide commodities and services, is hosting the 6th annual Subs for Subs networking and outreach business opportunity fair on Wednesday, June 2 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Balboa Park Club.
This unique annual event brings small and prime businesses together under one roof to focus on construction and construction related industries, consultant and vendor services.
“One major challenge in the construction industry has been the limited opportunities for small business participation,” said CCDC Executive Vice President and CFO Frank Alessi. “Subs for Subs highlights the need for building partnerships and improving the participation rate of minority, women, disabled, disadvantaged and small business enterprises. These types of events help foster long-lasting change.”
Guest speakers will include representatives from the City of San Diego, CCDC, the San Diego Regional Airport Authority and the San Diego San Diego Community College District to discuss current and future public construction projects. Experts from the private sector will lead workshops on how to grow a business through internet marketing and how to be more competitive on prevailing wage jobs.
The PAC includes CCDC, City of San Diego, County of San Diego, California Department of Transportation, San Diego Association of Governments, San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, San Diego County Water Authority, San Diego Housing Commission, San Diego Unified Port District, San Diego Unified School District, the San Diego Contracting Opportunities Center and Naval Facilities Engineering Command.
