ESCONDIDO–The California Center for the Arts, Escondido is inviting the public to a free Center Chorale Summer Sing sessions in July.
Participants will join Dr. Joe Stanford, Center Chorale Conductor, on stage to sing excerpts from two popular masterpieces of chorale music.
The first is July 9 at 7 p.m. The group will sing choruses of Handel’s Messiah, while the following week, Monday July 16 at 7 p.m., choruses from Faure’s Requiem will be explored.
Dr. Stanford noted “We are creating energy and community interest in singing. Coming together to sight read through these great masterworks is a wonderful way to spend a summer’s evening.”
Information will be distributed about the Center for the Arts’ coming Vocal Arts Program, starting up this fall, which includes The Center Chorale, along with three children’s choirs. Auditions for The Center Chorale will be held in August.
Singers are encouraged to bring their own musical scores. Copies will also be available for loan for the evening. There is no charge for the event, which takes place on stage in the Center Theater.
