CAMPO–A 15 year-old male and his friends were injured Wednesday afternoon after the vehicle they were in rolled over onto a roadway in Campo.
The Campo teen took his grandmothers’ 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe with out her permission and drove it to Mountain Empire High School to pick up five of his friends. They continued southbound on Buckman Springs Rd. at a high rate of speed. The driver was unable to maintain control of the Tahoe and rolled several times. The vehicle came to rest on the west shoulder of the roadway on its wheels.
One of the occupants was located in the rear cargo area of the vehicle and unrestrained at the time of the collision. He suffered significant internal injuries and was transported via air ambulance to Children’s Hospital. The remaining occupants were all transported to local hospitals via ground ambulance.
At this time there is no evidence that drugs or alcohol were a factor. Buckman Springs Rd. was closed to one-way traffic for approximately one hours for clean up and investigation.
