Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, CA–Sgt. Maj. Reginald Daniels assumed the position of Sergeant Major of I Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group (I MIG), I Marine Expeditionary Force, from Sgt. Maj. David White during a Relief and Appointment Ceremony, March 11 on Camp Pendleton.

“Marines and sailors of I MIG, we’ll get to work next week,” said Daniels, after officially taking over in his new role.

White, Sergeant Major of I MEF Information Group, a native of Nashville, TN, retired during the ceremony after 28 years of service.

“We have to make sacrifices. We do it because we know that we are defending our freedoms,” said White. At the ceremony, White received the Legion of Merit award for exceptional meritorious conduct while serving with I MIG.

I Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group re-designated to I MIG in the summer of 2017 to address Marine Corps’ commitment to operations in the information environment. The mission of the I MEF Information Group is to integrate and employ capabilities for information environment operations in order to ensure the Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) Commander’s ability to facilitate friendly forces maneuver and deny the enemy freedom of action in the information environment. I MIG provides communications, intelligence, and supporting arms liaison in support of MAGTF operations.
