Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, CA–A military MV-22B Osprey carrying five Marines crashed Wednesday afternoon in a Southern California desert, the military said.
The crash was reported around 12:25 p.m. near Glamis, an unincorporated community in Imperial County.
The Osprey, belonging to 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, was based at Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton with Marine Aircraft Group 39.
Base officials are awaiting confirmation on the status of all members of the crew.
Military representatives said contrary to initial social media reports, there was no nuclear material on board the aircraft.
