SAN DIEGO–A brawl between inmates at a detention facility sent three to a local hospital, according to Sheriff’s deputies.
Sunday’s multiple physical altercations occurred at the George Bailey Detention Facility. The incident was initiated when one inmate attacked another inmate in the dayroom. This immediately prompted approximately 20 inmates to begin fighting each other.
Numerous deputies and supervisors responded to the scene. Deputies were initially able to stop the fight, however, the inmates began to fight again as deputies prepared to enter the module. Deputies were eventually able to end the physical altercations.
The inmates were treated for various injuries. The extent of their injuries was unknown.
The investigation is ongoing.
