FALLBROOK–Brandon Gallery’s Studio 105 wing during February is the next venue for a special showing of experimental art by award winning artists Barry Koral and Kirk Gilliam.
Beginning Feb. 1 and running through Feb 27, Koral and Gilliam will present a wide range of paintings and assemblage art at this artist’s cooperative in the heart of the Village of Fallbrook. A public reception will be held at the gallery Saturday, Feb. 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. Light refreshments and musical entertainment will be provided along with an opportunity to discuss the distinctive artistic styles with these two accomplished artists.
Koral, a fine art painter who works in prisma-color and inks, blends art deco and meso-American themes to create distinctive statements about the natural world. He lives and works out of a studio in the nearby community of Vista. Gilliam, a resident of Jacumba in south San Diego County, builds whimsical sculptures out of objects found at various places that he recycles into what the art world calls assemblages. His sculptures also have many Hispanic touches to them.
The gallery is a non-profit artists’ cooperative with 24 members representing many major creative disciplines. Each month member and guest artists from San Diego and Riverside counties display hundreds of pieces of art that include textiles and sculpture, jewelry and gourd art, oil and acrylic paintings, watercolors and pastels, greeting cards, printmaking, photography and digital media and artist supplies.
Brandon Gallery is located at 105 N. Main, one door off Alvarado in the Village of Fallbrook. It is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
