EL CAJON–A border patrol agent was injured Monday afternoon when his patrol car crossed a double line hitting another vehicle.
The agent, a 41 year old male, was traveling westbound on State Route 78 east of Magnolia in a marked USBP Chevrolet Tahoe. For an unknown reason the Tahoe crossed over the solid double yellow line and side-swiped a 2001 Ford F-250 traveling eastbound on SR-78.
The driver of the F-250, Tara Goins, 28, of Ramona and three children 3, 6, and 7 were all uninjured as well as a border patrol agent who was riding in the right front passenger. The driver of the Tahoe was transported via air ambulance with unknown internal injuries.
SR-78 was temporarily closed for clean up and investigation. The cause of the collision is unknown at this time and still under investigation.
