ENCINITAS–A section of Grandview Beach is restricted due to a beach-side bluff collapse last Friday in Encinitas.
Last week’s torrential rains caused a retaining wall holding the bluff to buckle, causing a stairway leading to two homes on Neptune Avenue, to fall on the beach. The homes were not threatened.
City officials fear Wednesday’s heavy rains could cause the bluff to further slope.
“We put some caution tape across that area,” Encinitas Marine Safety Captain Larry Giles said. “The home owners are aware of what’s going on, and the engineering department from our city is working with them.”
Officials warn residents walking along that stretch of beach to avoid the taped area.
