DEL MAR–Sheriff’s Department investigators are asking for the public’s help in finding the driver in a hit and run that left a man seriously injured in Del Mar.

The collision occurred around 2 a.m. on November 9 in an alley between 10th Street and 11th Street. The victim was walking southbound when he was struck by a vehicle headed northbound in the alley. The driver did not stop to check on the victim before speeding off.

The victim suffered multiple broken bones and lacerations. He remains in the hospital, but is expected to survive.

After reviewing surveillance photos from around the time of the incident, investigators say they believe the suspect is driving a light colored (possibly white) compact SUV with minor damage to the front of the vehicle.

Authorities are asking any local collision damage repair shops that may have performed work on the suspect’s vehicle to contact them.

If you have any information on the suspect or the suspect vehicle, call the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477. Visit www.sdcrimestoppers.org for information on how to send a web or mobile app tip. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
