Authorities Arrest Man For Attempted Murder

April 18, 2016 By sdcnews

SAN DIEGO–Homicide detectives arrested a man and charged him with attempted murder of a San Diego man in Oak Park.

On Monday morning, the suspect and his vehicle, a black Toyota pick-up with a black camper shell and white stripes on the sides, was located by a San Diego police sergeant in the area of 6200 Estrella Avenue in San Diego. Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested 26-year-old, Jose Ricardo Garibay, for having two outstanding misdemeanor warrants. Garibay was transported to San Diego police headquarters where the attempt murder investigation continued. Homicide detectives located additional evidence and information and determined Garibay was the suspect who attempted to kill Julio Edeza the day before. Garibay was arrested and booked into San Diego County Jail for attempted murder and his outstanding misdemeanor warrants.

On Sunday, homicide detectives were called out to investigate a case of a man who was deliberately set on fire at a business in the 1700 block of Euclid Avenue. When officers responded, they located Edeza with serious burn injuries throughout his body. Paramedics treated Edeza and transported him to a local hospital. Edeza is still alive, but remains in critical condition.
