LA JOLLA–An impressive collection by famed artist and philanthropist Mackenzie Thorpe will be on exhibition and available for acquisition at La Jolla’s premier gallery, Legends Gallery Fine Art of La Jolla.
The exhibition marks the artist’s return to La Jolla after many years, and this retrospective is a newly-curated presentation of his extraordinary works. Exhibit previews begin on July 20 and the exhibition continues through August 15. The exhibition premiers on Saturday, July 26 with a Meet the Artist reception from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mackenzie Thorpe’s special appearance is complimentary and open to the public. All artwork and sculpture is on exhibition and available for acquisition.
Thorpe’s art is amongst the most sought after in the United Kingdom and the United States today. His reputation as an artist continues to grow worldwide on an unprecedented scale. He is an ordinary individual, who has, through his art, the extraordinary ability to convey emotions and messages that speak a universal language.
It is truly a rare talent for a man from unlikely working class beginnings to have used the equally unlikely medium of art to successfully communicate across the barriers of age, class, gender and race – yet that is what Thorpe does.
He was awarded a commission to create a piece to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee; the highest honor for an artist in the UK.
Thorpe has dedicated a portion of his life to helping children and young adults; the artist maintains a foundation “No One to Catch Me”, an organization that encourages and supports young people who are working towards a specific goal by developing their creative skills, and who are coping with disadvantage. Thorpe has made this a part of his life’s work. His artwork reflects this journey: for the very essence of Mackenzie’s art reflects life’s journey and its emotions.
This magnificent exhibition is not to be missed, and the opportunity for the people of La Jolla and its environs to meet Thorpe and to become collectors of the finest and highly-curated collection of his work is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The exhibition, held at Legends Gallery of La Jolla, 1205 Prospect Street, Suite B, features original works, mixed media, etchings, sculptures, bronzes, lithographs and serigraphs.
