ESCONDIDO–California Center for the Arts, Escondido (the Center) will kick off its 2015/2016 season with a spectacular series of singular events.
The opening week of September 23 to 29 alone will showcase performances by several GRAMMY winners and nominees and world-renowned talents, including the San Francisco Comedy Competition, Storm Large and Le Bonheur, Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat, and The Time Jumpers with Vince Gill, Kenny Sears and Ranger Doug Green.
With a mission of bringing people together to discover, create, and celebrate both the visual and performing arts, the California Center for the Arts, Escondido is the cultural center of North San Diego County. The season kicks-off with the highly-anticipated San Francisco Comedy Competition, a longstanding launchpad for an array of comic superstars including Robin Williams, Dana Carvey, Ellen DeGeneres, Louis C.K., and more. Reigning champ Kabir “Kabeezy” Singh will host the hilarious showcase featuring ten semi-finalists, who will each perform an 8-12 minute set, judged in part by the audience.
Fresh off his Comedy Central debut on the hit comedy show “Gabriel Iglesias’s Stand-Up Revolution,” Kabir Singh is a high-energy, fast-talking comic who has collected numerous accolades for his razor-sharp wit and in-your-face attitude, including taking home first place two years in a row at the Bay Area Stand Up Comedy Competition, and winning the 39th Annual SF International Comedy Competition. At the latter, he became the first comic in the competition’s history to place first in all five rounds. Singh has also shared the stage with top stars like Dave Chappelle, Dane Cook, and Russell Peters, and has headlined every major comedy club in California including the Hollywood Laugh Factory, Melrose Improv, and Sacramento Punchline.
Stone Brewing Co. is sponsor of the San Francisco Comedy Competition at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido.
