SAN DIEGO–San Diego police officers have arrested Tuesday a man suspected of robbing a bank in downtown San Diego.
Anthony Munoz, 57, was taken into custody for robbing the Chase Bank, located at 101 W. Broadway near Horton Plaza.
On Tuesday morning at about 10:15 a.m., a male suspect entered the bank. The suspect approached a teller and made a verbal demand for cash. The teller initially did not believe she was actually being robbed, so the suspect added that he was armed with a gun and repeated his demand for cash. The teller gave him an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect walked out of the bank, eastbound on Broadway.
Moments later, an officer responding to the bank robbery saw Munoz at the northeast corner of 1st Avenue and Broadway, waiting for the bus. Munoz was arrested and the stolen cash was recovered.
Munoz will be booked into San Diego County Jail on one count of commercial robbery. He is expected to be arraigned on February 16 in San Diego Superior Court.
