OCEANSIDE–Thousands of runners sprinted through the streets of downtown Oceanside Thursday morning in the fifth annual Pacific Marine Credit Union Oceanside Turkey Trot.
The beachfront 5 mile run and 5K run/walk began at 7 a.m. at Oceanside Civic Center and continued down South Coast Highway towards the harbor and winding back to the Oceanside Municipal Pier. The Kids 1 Mile Run and ¼ Mile Run began at South Pacific Street and at the foot of Tyson Park staircase. All races ended at The Strand finish line.
The top three 5 mile and 5K Age Division winners received a gift certificate from Dick’s Sporting Goods. All participating runners received t-shirts and a custom finisher medal.
A post race expo, held at the Oceanside Band Shell, featured a live band, vendors and refreshments.
The race, presented by Genentech, and organized by the Move Your Feet Before You Eat Foundation and Kinane Events, benefited Oceanside schools and the Virginia Ann Scheunemann Memorial Fund.
