Animal Care Foundation Hosts Benefit Golf Tournament

December 2, 2016 By sdcnews

faceSOLANA BEACH–The Foundation for Animal Care and Education (FACE) hosted its fifth annual Invitational Golf Tournament November 7 benefitting San Diego pets in need of life-saving veterinary care.

The tournament, held at the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club in Solana Beach, brought out golfers and their furry friends to the course for a day of fun with their best pals – both human and canine. Players were joined by special VIP guest and MLB legend Fred Lynn, a long-time supporter of the organization.

At the conclusion of the tournament, golfers and guests gathered at the club for a dinner reception, live auction, and a special awards ceremony.

This year’s tournament, sponsored by Carlsbad Golf Center, honored the memory of the late Dennis Green, former NFL coach and running back who passed away this summer, as well as the Green family’s dearly loved rescue dog, Isabel. Green and his wife Marie are long-time supporters of FACE, and he was an annual patron of the golf tournament.

“We feel privileged to have honored Denny and his beloved Isabel at this year’s event in gratitude for his service to animals, families, and the San Diego community,” FACE Executive Director Brooke Haggerty says.

The tournament generated approximately $110,000, which will be going directly towards saving pets and families. Funds raised from the dog-friendly golf tournament will help approximately 80 pets in need of emergency veterinary care.

FACE Foundation was created in 2006 to combat the problem of “economic euthanasia” – the tragedy that occurs when pet owners are forced to euthanize their beloved companion animals because they cannot afford emergency veterinary care. FACE strives to save lives, reduce economic euthanasia, and increase the wellness of San Diego’s pets. To date, FACE has saved the lives of over 1,500 pets in the San Diego community and 2016 marks the Foundation’s 10 year anniversary. 100% of the proceeds from the Golf Tournament will help sick or injured pets and their families during their time of need.
