SAN DIEGO–Ira Glass is the creator, producer and host of This American Life, the iconic weekly public radio program, brings his show to San Diego on August 27 at Balboa Theatre.
Using audio clips, music, and video, Glass delivers a unique talk; sharing lessons from his life and career in storytelling: What inspires him to create? What drives his passion? How have failures and successes informed his decisions? During his presentation, Glass will mix stories live onstage and help his audience better follow the creative process of one of our foremost storytellers.
Fans of this popular program, broadcast on more than 500 stations to about 2.2 million listeners, is also often the most popular podcast in the country, with another 2.5 million people downloading each episode, are familiar with his unique style of storytelling. Centered on a theme, the shows are journalism, part comedy, part audio essays and completely engaging.
Glass was named best radio host in the country by Time Magazine and received the highest individual honor in public broadcasting, the Edward R. Murrow Award. The American Journalism Review declared that the show is at “the vanguard of a journalistic revolution.”
