Actress Marilu Henner To Speak At Vital Aging Conference

SAN DIEGO–There’s a big change in store for the 2019 Vital Aging Conference.

Don’t worry, all your favorite things are still there. And it’s still free. It’s just in a new location this year – the San Diego Convention Center.

The Wednesday, June 19 event will explore ways older adults can improve their health and well-being through physical fitness, social connection, activities to help maintain cognitive function and self-care. Resources and information for caregivers will also be available.

“Older adults and caregivers are such valuable members of our community,” said Kim Gallo, director, San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency Aging & Independence Services. “Vital Aging serves to celebrate participants and empower them to live healthy, safe, and thriving lives.”

This year’s headliner is Marilu Henner. Henner, best known for her role on the sitcom “Taxi,” has also made appearances on “Dancing with the Stars” and “Celebrity Apprentice” and starred in numerous movies. She is a New York Times best-selling author and long-time advocate for healthier living.

Henner’s written nine books on health, diets and memory and hosts The Marilu Henner Show weekdays on more than a dozen radio stations across the country.

The Vital Aging Conference is from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Besides the main location at the Convention Center, 111 W. Harbor Drive in San Diego, there is a companion site in North County at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido, 340 N. Escondido Blvd. Henner’s keynote address will be simulcast to the Escondido location.

Parking at the Convention Center is available for a reduced rate of $5. Attendees, however, can take advantage of a free park and ride option in conjunction with MTS at SDCCU Stadium. There you can park for free and receive a free trolley day pass if you register in advance and select the park and ride option.

You can register for Vital Aging by calling 1-800-827-4277 or online at www.AISevents.org.
