Oceanside, CA–A 16-year-old boy found stabbed near an Oceanside park Tuesday evening died of his injuries at a local hospital, authorities said.
The Oceanside Police Department received a report at 5 p.m. of a stabbing victim in the area of Mesa Drive and Cinnamon Way in the west parking lot near Martin Luther King Jr. Park at 4300 Mesa Drive.
The teen was driven a short distance out of the immediate area by an acquaintance who came to a stop near the park where responding officers located the boy. He had sustained life-threatening stab wounds to the chest and was transported to Tri-City Medical Center for treatment, Oceanside Police Department Public Information Officer Jennifer Atenza stated in a news release.
Despite life-saving measures attempted by medical staff, the boy died of his injuries just after 11 pm. He has been identified but his information is currently withheld, pending family notifications.
