Escondido, CA–A 14-year-old boy crossing east in the crosswalk at the intersection of Bear Valley Parkway at Grand Avenue was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver Saturday in Escondido, authorities said.
Escondido Police received a 911 call at around 9:27 p.m. of a collision involving a pedestrian. Officers arrived within minutes and discovered the teen lying in the roadway. The driver had fled the scene.
Officers immediately began CPR on the boy until the Escondido Fire Department arrived. Paramedics transported him to Palomar Medical Center where he later died from injuries sustained in the collision.
Investigators determined the boy had been struck by the vehicle which had been traveling north on Bear Valley Parkway.
